Croatian President Zoran Milanović had harsh words for his country’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, sternly criticizing his government’s proposal to bring Ukrainian troops to Croatia to train, saying such a move could bring war to the country. When the Croatian parliament rejected Plenković’s proposal, the prime minister took to the French media to criticize his own country’s politicians who opposed the move and called it “a historically wrong choice.”
These comments in the foreign press provoked a strong rebuke from the Milanović, who, addressing Plenković, said: “You spit on Croatian representatives and Croatian citizens in the French media… Never insult the democratic representatives of your citizens and your citizens in foreign media. That is the minimum etiquette.” The President added,“You keep pushing moral blackmail, but you have no morals yourself. Go to Ukraine and fight.”
Milanović was in Vukovar to participate in the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the international recognition of the Republic of Croatia. The Croatian President said that decisions about Croatia’s involvement in the conflict in Ukraine should be made by the people of Croatia and not imposed upon it by foreign powers. “Washington and NATO are waging a proxy war against Russia through Ukraine,” Milanović said. “However, if you don't have the ultimate goal, if you don't have a plan, then it ends up like Afghanistan.”
The President cast doubt on the European Union’s decisions regarding Ukraine calling them, “legally very doubtful. The decision is that for the first time in its history, the EU is participating in a war. And this is against the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, because it only foresees missions outside the territory of the EU,” the President said. “Ukraine is not an ally. It’s being forcibly made into one. It was cynically granted the status of an EU candidate. That’s what the EU is today: squalor, zero.”
Milanović had harsh words for the West’s conduct of the war in Ukraine. “The plan cannot be to remove Putin. The plan cannot be sanctions. This is nonsense. We will not achieve anything. They didn't even break Milosevic with sanctions. They go from war to war. What should we be? American slaves?”
Croatia is a Slavic state. They don't want to upset the Russians. No matter--the Poles, the Brits, and Balts will train them. He happens to be a Putin fan-boy. He can be ignored.
It's good to see that there is some common sense left Europe and that the globalists haven't bought every politician; yet.
