As Serbia prepares for early parliamentary elections on December 17, Serbian Foreign Minister and head of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Ivica Dačić that former head of state Slobodan Milošević set an example of how to love and defend one’s homeland, not afraid to give his own life to achieve national interests. Dačić was speaking at a campaign event in the town of Gornji Milanovac in central Serbia.
Dačić said that Milošević was convicted on behalf of the nation of Serbia and its people, and that today his grandson proudly stands as one of the three people heading the coalition election ticket of the SPS-United Serbia-Greens of Serbia, demonstrating that the ideas of truth and justice, love for one’s country and people, are passed down among socialists and true patriots from generation to generation.
Dačić told voters that it is important that people vote for the ideas of justice, equality, and equal opportunities for everyone, for a coalition that continues to fight for the interests of Serbia and all of its citizens.
Early elections were called for in the summer as the Serbian Government has been embroiled in crisis over EU and US demands to recognize Serbia’s autonomous province of Kosovo as an independent nation.
