On Tuesday, the Parliament of Slovenia voted to recognize the state of Palestine, with 52 votes in favor out of 90. The opposition boycotted the session in protest. Slovenia announced last week that it would formally recognize Palestine as an independent state, following a decision taken by the globalist center-left government of Prime Minister Robert Golob.
Slovenia now joins three other European countries – Spain, Ireland and Norway – who last week recognized Palestine as an independent state, provoking the ire of Israel. Jerusalem withdrew its ambassadors from these states in protest.
Golob, who leads a coalition formed by his liberal party and two social-democratic parties, claims that this recognition “sends a message of peace,” despite the fact that there is no Palestinian state.
“We believe that the time has come for the whole world to join its efforts for a two-state solution that would bring peace to the Middle East,” the Slovenian prime minister declared.
