Former Albanian President Sali Berisha said that he will ask the new U.S. administration under Donald Trump to reverse the Biden Administration’s move to declare him a “persona non grata” because of alleged corruption in May 2021. Berisha says the sanctions were orchestrated by current Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and George Soros to stifle political opposition in the Balkan country.
“I will ask [the United States], according to the rules, to review a decision that is based on the corrupt lobbying of Edi Rama and George Soros. I will take the initiative to demand from the new [U.S.] administration, according to the rules that exist, that this strictly anti-opposition decision, this coup within the state against the opposition political force of Albania, ends,” Berisha told the media.
Berisha called Donald Trump’s election victory “a miracle for humanity.” As Albania’s leading opposition figure, Berisha faced a new onslaught of lawfare from the globalist forces ruling his country in September 2024. Albania’s Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime, SPAK, a tool of the globalists, brought “corruption” charges against him in an effort to eliminate political opposition.
