In a post on Facebook, Kostandin Kostadinov, leader of Bulgaria’s anti-globalist opposition party Vazrazhdane, called on Bulgarian President Rumen Radev to convene the Consultative Council for National Security in light of the threat to Bulgarian democracy posed by the country’s ruling parties.
“The Bulgarian President made two important steps in defense of democracy in Bulgaria by proposing a referendum on the introduction of the euro and then announcing that he would refer the matter to the Constitutional Court because of the suspension of this right by the President of the National Assembly Kicelea. That is why I will propose to Rumen Radev to take the next, third step,” Kostadinov wrote.
“Since our national security is threatened by the creeping anti-constitutional coup carried out by the ruling GERB and MRF-Peevski, together with their crutches BSP and ITN, I believe that it is right for the President to convene the Consultative Council for National Security. The introduction of foreign currency in the country against the will of the Bulgarian people is practically a coup d’etat. Today I will send a letter to the presidential institution with a proposal to convene the council. I think we are long overdue and with this action, but better late than never.”
“And to all free Bulgarians I remind – on May 31 at 12 p.m. is the National Protest in Defense of the Lev! In Sofia we gather in front of the BNB, and in other cities we organize an organization, so far in 130 municipalities, and we gather volunteers for the total 130. The battle for the lev is the last battle for Bulgaria and we, the Bulgarians, will win it!”, Kostadinov concluded.
