While the leftist media began celebrating a victory for Kiril Petkov’s globalist We Continue the Change Party whose goal is to make Bulgaria completely subservient to Western interests and to join the war in Ukraine, the final results have left them disappointed for the moment. Bulgarian voters rejected globalism on Sunday. The biggest winner was the Bulgarian Revival Party (Vazrazhdane), which saw its vote total increase to 14%, continuing a trend over the past five elections.

Parallel vote counts based on nearly complete results by three separate polling agencies registered with the Central Election Commission give the conservative alliance GERB-UDF a lead over the globalist left Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) grouping. Vazrazhdane claimed third place ahead of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. BSP for Bulgaria finished in fifth place. There Is Such a People is on the verge of the 4% electoral threshold needed to enter parliament. Voter Turnout was estimated at around 39%.

Alpha Research reported the following results based on a 100% parallel vote count:

    GERB-UDF 25.7%
    CC-DB 25.1%
    Vazrazhdane 13.9%
Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) 13.6%
    BSP for Bulgaria 9.0%
There Is Such a People (TISP) 3.9%
    Bulgarian Rise 3.0%.

Gallup International reported these results based on a 99% parallel vote count:

    GERB-UDF 26.2%
    CC-DB 24.6%
    Vazrazhdane 14.5
    MRF 13.4%
    BSP for Bulgaria 9.2%
    TISP 3.9%
    None Of The Above 4.1%

Trend Research Center announced their results based on a 100% parallel count:

    GERB-UDF 26.2%
    CC-DB 25%
    Vazrazhdane 13.7%
    MRF 13%
    BSP for Bulgaria 9.1%
    TISP 4.3%
    Bulgarian Rise 3%.

The biggest winner in Sunday’s election was Vazrazhdane which increased its total by 3-4% from the previous election, which the other parties remained at the similar levels. Vazrazhdane is a conservative nationalist party that looks to maintain Bulgaria’s freedom and independence and to adopt a Swiss-style neutrality in foreign affairs.

Kostadin Kostadinov, speaking on Bulgarian television after the results were announced, said “Vazrazhdane is becoming a major political force. Whether there will be a government will depend on two things: how active and persuasive the US Ambassador will be, and whether GERB-UDF and Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria will be ready to defy him.”

Kostadinov said that a possible coalition between GERB-UDF and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, something advocated for by foreign embassies looking to interfere in Bulgaria’s internal affairs, would cause voters to turn away from both and would lead to a quick dissolution of the new Parliament.

Kostadinov declared that Vazrazhdane will only support a government formed on its own mandate. “Regardless of what the final results are, one thing is indisputable – Vazrazhdane is the political organization that shows the biggest growth. We have increased our voters by between 150,000 and 170,000,” Kostadinov added.
